Believe it or not, only twenty percent of the total items in your kitchen are actually used for only eight percent. Do you not wonder then why in the world you have to have a lot of storage space when the things you are keeping in storage is stuff you do not actually need, much less use?

The following are tips for you to once again claim as yours that precious storage kitchen space.

Vertical is the way to go. Use plastic baskets or wicker baskets for storing things or objects in an up and down manner. That counter space is called counter space for a reason so use it wisely. Do not spread stuff out, stack it all. It is also best to use an IN and OUT type of wicker basket to sort stuff for family members incoming and outgoing mail.

When finding storage, go for the cheap yet quality ones. There are shelves that are made of wire that one could easily purchase in your neighborhood discount store. These types of storage units could also double for storing your dishes, pots, and pans.

Find storage that hangs. Hangers that could be used over the door or that could be mounted on doors can be used for items in the pantry that can be stored yet at the same time displayed. This is in order to avoid having to rummage under, over and through cabinets just to find that small box of ground pepper. It is also useful to get holders for seasonings. Believe it or not, there are such a thing as organizers that can be placed under the shelf. These storage items could be used to store napkins, paper plates, coffee filters, etc.

Keep that junk drawer. Really you can. If you have kids in the house, this is one way to lick the problem of all that junk that just seemingly accumulates at the drop of a hat. You could use a simple plastic basket to keep those hard to find paperclips, pens, etc. and to easily locate them when you need them.

Families spend as much time in the kitchen as they do in the living room. Keeping it clean and orderly helps all of you have that airy, cozy and comfortable feeling as you eat, cook and spend quality time with your loved ones.
